PASADENA TEEN COURT
The Teen Court Program has been a success in over 20 locations around LA County. It is finally being brought to Pasadena and Pasadena High School is building a courtroom to accommodate the program. Teens accused of non-violent offenses (graffiti, theft, low level drug offenses, etc.) are given the opportunity to have their cases tried before a “jury of their peers”–local High School students. The jury deliberates with the limited guidance of an attorney “proctor” and renders a recommended verdict and sentence that the judge can impose.
The program will be supervised by Pasadena judge, Hon. Elaine Lu. The Pasadena Teen Court will be “in session” from 3:30-5:30, beginning October 14 and thereafter on the second Wednesday of every month during the academic year. Those interested in serving as proctors should contact Judge Lu at firstname.lastname@example.org
